II. Interview Structure
Three steps are useful in
structuring the Set-Up:
Second,
staff should notify offenders of the many different sources of
information (collateral contacts, criminal records, treatment
summaries, etc.) that may be used to verify what is said during
the interview. This increases offenders' truthfulness, and it
allows staff to return to the issues related to discrepancy between
the offender's self-reported information and other information
sources.
Finally,
staff should encourage offenders to ask any questions or to clarify
information disclosed during a prior interview. Offenders should
also be aware that notes will be taken during the interview.
