III. Appropriate Services for Stages of
Change
Action:
Taking the proper step
towards change moves the offender into the action stage. The emphasis
should be on the development of skills, in terms of cognitive
thinking, social skills, etc. Staff again should attempt to teach
the offenders, although the focus should now be on social and
life skills. Staff should attempt to teach offenders skills such
as problem solving that can be used in everyday situations. Staff
should continuously reinforce any positive movement made by offenders.
