I. Substance Abusing Offenders
Triggers:
Drug abusing offenders
are susceptible to relapse and often exhibit indications that
a relapse is imminent. Some of these signs include positive drug
tests, association with drug using peers, changes in housing or
employment, and failure to live up to basic supervision requirements
such as reporting. When these events occur, staff must imme diately
take steps to help offenders avoid any type of relapse. Staff
can assist offenders in developing relapse prevention strategies
to cope with risky people, places, and things.
