Stages of Change

While certainly no single "answer" has emerged, there is a professional consensus on the process of behavior change.

The "Stages of Change" model, developed in 1992 by Prochaska, DiClemente and Norcross, provides a framework for identifying where a person is in the change process.

The model has six distinct stages, and each requires a different posture and approach with offenders in each stage.
